Links and Photos

Not a lot to report about this weekend. I've finished my 101 word story for Michael J. Solender's Dog Days of Summer Contest. There's still plenty of time to enter, folks, so you can link to the contest rules here. It's open to all followers of The Not. I'm not ready to hit the 'send' button just yet. Big bragging rights are at stake here, so I'll want a second and third opinion. My mother says that it's amazing but hey, what the heck does she know!

One of the blogs I regularly follow is Spec fic and Nonsense by dark fiction writer KV Taylor. She is a big fan of vampires and her post on Friday had me laughing my ass off. It's a commentary on classic vampire films Nosferatu in 1922, Dracula in 1931, and Brides of Dracula in 1960. Rumour has it that it's the first of who knows how many. The catch to this is that the commentary is between two of the 'undead' from a current WIP of hers (perhaps she can clarify that point if I'm telling lies). Follow this link to some humorous dialogue.

Finally I present a couple of night time photos we took from the top of historic Signal Hill last week. One is looking down into the harbour and the city lights beyond. The other is a shot of Cabot Tower lit up. The third is courtesy of The Weather Network and is of a rainbow spanning the Narrows into the harbour. That was taken by Regina Downtown. The night photos don't appear as large as I had hoped. C'est dommage!

I'm waiting...no extra credit for clean shaven look but I'm sure it will be in the hunt!

LOVE the rainbow photo. *pretends Alan took it*

Chants with MjS: "shave it off, shave it off"

*looks expectant*

I admire that you can write a 101 word story. The shortest I've managed to write is 432 words.

Writing 101 is a challenge. Good for you.

101 is really, really hard. I once did 100 for Necrotic Tissue and man-- give me 5k any day. Fun, but hard!

Thanks for the shout-out, and I'm really glad the boys amused you. You got it right, they're from a WIP. My oldest WIP, in truth. Yikes. :D

Michael...I should shave it off, I could use all of the extra credit I can get my hands on.

Karen- Pretending is good. I look creepy enough without the beard at the moment.

Danielle- It's challenging. My first attempt was in the 140's, and then had to hack it down from there without losing the intent of the story.

Becca- Thanks, Becca. Enter a story...I dar ya!

Katey- There was some great chemistry (and bantering) between the boys. You should enter a story as well. You're a woman with experience. As you noted, the proof's in Nectotic Tissue.

Dez- My wife is responsible for the night pics, the rainbow from another woman who lives here.

John- Yeah, there's a lot of surrealistic scenery about these parts. Glad you liked them.

Kara- Hmm...a contest addict. I don't know if you 'follow' MJS but that's a requirement of the contest, of course.

Love the pics, and you were right, I laughed my fat butt off reading the link you posted. Needed a good laugh before my most recent assignment and you saved me, Thank You!

Rick- I hope the eyewashing worked to get rid of those nasty visuals from the Chat Roulette. Bleach helps, I hear (for them, not for you!)

Entre Nous- Glad you enjoyed the pics. I would have liked them to come out larger. Damn technology. Yep, the vampire movie reviews were very humourous.

Beautiful photos, Alan! And for what it's worth, I like the middle one the best! I'll take an enlargement for my desktop wallpaper, please.
