Accepting the Warm Fuzzy...

A suitably vague blog title, I thought to myself...sweet, yet with a naughty undertone.

I again take the podium for another acceptance speech for an award bestowed upon me. Those of you who have followed this blog for any length of time probably remember that I'm terrified of public speaking. Ergo no speech.

The lovely Laurita Miller, regional friend and writer in crime, has present myself and 4 others with the 'Circle of Friends Award' aka 'The Big Blue Doughnut with Heart-Shaped Centre Award.' I am humbled to be included in her group of on-line friends whose work I admire and whose level of skill I hope to achieve one day. Check out her blog, Brain Droppings, and enlarge your circle of friends as well.

I am instructed to pass this on to 5 people within my circle of friends and will select those who have entertained me with their writing skills, lifted my spirits when I had little confidence in my own abilities and generally entertained me with their blogs. It's a tough call, but I think that I will select ones I hope run in different circles to help 'spread the joy'. I won't pass on any instruction regarding how many to pass this on to, just pick as few or as many you are happy to call friend. Oh, yeah. The five people are:

Mercedes 'super mom' Yardley at A Broken Laptop.

Elspeth Antonelli at It's a Mystery.

Dezmond at Hollywood Spy.

Aaron (yes, the guy from the fan club) Polson at The Other Aaron.

Anton Gully aka the Flash B*stard at The Black Dogs of Despair Reading Room (note to readers: I choose Mr. Gully as he loathes receiving these things and I enjoy his reaction--also, he is my longest running friend since blogging and a talented writer and I would be remiss not to include him in such a list...)
Do check out all of their blogs and be educated, entertained, amused or perhaps left in awe.

Alan; I accept this Big Blue Doughnut with a Heart-Shaped Centre award with pleasure. Thanks for thinking of me. Here's to the octopus at Gyro Park; he rocked.

Congrats, Alan! You deserve a warm fuzzy award. At least Anton will have to admit that it's not pink... :)

I have to wonder if that could actually make donuts with a heart shaped hole! I'll keep my eyes peeled come Valentine's Day.

I am, of course, honored. And doughnuts are the best, even blue one's with heart-shaped holes.

Ooh, pretty choices, esp. Mr. Gully. ;)

Lol. Yeah, Mr. Gully's responses are always a hoot. Nice picks, Alan, and congrats.

Elspeth- I hope, someday, to visit the creatures at Gyro Park again. Perhaps when I have grandkids...

Laura- Thanks. And you're right, he doesn't have a leg to stand on this time!

Nat- I am indifferent to the shape of the center. As long as it tastes good.

Aaron- We Canadians are connoiseurs (yes, I had to look up the spelling) on such things as doughnuts as we have a Tim Horton's on nearly every block...

Cate- I'm glad you liked them. It was a tough call...

Kat-Too true, and thanks!

Anton's family asked me to collect the award on his behalf. They're all too sad to come here and pick it up. Personally, I never liked him.

It was very kind of you to award this blue thing to Anton. The doctor said it was probably the kindness that killed him. Or the drink. Or the bull that kicked him in the head.

I don't know what we're expected to do with this now. It seems like a waste of money to get it engraved with Anton's name, and I don't think we could even shift it on Ebay. Still, it was kind of you to give it to him. Although there is a 33.3% chance it was the kindness that killed him. As demonstrated above.

Overall it's been a pretty tragic week. It looks like I won't be collecting on that bet. I told him that it was a bull, but he insisted it was a cow and that he was going to milk it. I don't know which of them was more surprised when he started at it.

Hey Pablo,
I always wanted to meet someone from Anton's family to ask why he's such a...well, never mind.
I personally believe that Anton would want that fuzzy little award stuck right on his forehead in his coffin to remember his friends. It would also serve the dual purpose of restraining him, should he try to rise again.

I think they ought to make doughnuts with heart-shaped holes for Valentine's Day. But not blue, because blue is not a good color for food.

Laurita- I'm glad you approve. And thanks again for passing along the award.

Pablo G- You never explained your exact relationship to Anton. However your pale complexion and dire need of dental work makes me think you are a brother or perhaps a half-brother. I suppose only the Senior Gully would know for sure.

Sorry, also, to hear of Anton's death by Guiness or by horse kick. I'm sure that he will be missed by the ladies...

Laura-You go girl!

Jeremy-Thanks, sir!

KC- I never met a doughnut I didn't like...

Alan - You have an award waiting for you on my site. :)

Yay for friend-awards! Pablo's acceptance speech on Anton's behalf was touching. I nearly cried.

Not Mr. Gully!

Doning a black veil and delicately wiping a stray tear. *sniff* If only he'd been able to tell the difference between a boy and a girl cow...

Something about this whole warm and fuzzy donut & bull milking Pablo Gully thing makes me want to work blue....

I'll just say that the warm and fuzzy followed by the bull and donut bit, followed by Anton acting like he's from out of this world reminds me of the furry "senso rings" that the coneheads had. Not sure why, but given enough time I'm sure I could figure it out....

Laura gave me an award too. I'm currently wearing it on my sleeve. Right next to the button that says I have unusually long arms....

[This rambling comment was brought to you by low blood sugar..time for a snack...oh hey, maybe a donut]

First, congrats on getting the award, and second thanks for passing it to me :)
I should really buy a new tuxedo with all these award ceremonies going around these days ;)

Although I first thought you were thinking about my HOLLYWOOD SPY when you said that some of your readers might run away in awe after visiting it :) I am more than honored and glad that you find my spying entertaining and fun. It's always nice seeing your comments over there.

I shall proudly display this award immediately up in my award shelf over at HOLLYWOOD SPY :)

Pablo- Sorry, may French is questionable, my Spanish even worse.

Laura- Thanks, you're a sweetheart!

Katey-You're right, it was a touching speech. I nearly cried too (except it's because Anton owes me money)

Kat-You know that you have my sympathies. It's ashame that Anton was so unknowledgable with the female anatomy.

Karen-Thanks for the comments, I hope that your medication kicked in...

Dez- My pleasure. It is the award season in Hollywood, after all! I'm sure that you'd be smashing in a tux.
