Vanity Project-part I

In the beginning...

A wee, rosy-cheeked Alan in 1965 with our new fox terrier Tuesday. We had arrived in Canada (Victoria, B.C.) eight months earlier and I probably babbled at the puppy with an undecipherable Scottish accent. Ach!

Flash forward to 1975 where I show off our baseball trophy as playoff champs. I am smiling here. This was not the case a year earlier when our team (a different one) went 0-18 for the season. I look at that shirt and am reminded of the fact that my mother dressed me funny. And don't get me started on the hair!

All mothers dress their kids funny! I do love that quotation of the day in your sidebar.

OMG I so love that hair! It's adorable!

... I'm serious, too. Really.

What a beautiful little guy you were!! Somehow, though, I don't think I would blame your mom for the hair and the shirt - somehow I think that is what the boy wanted.

Awe! I was gonna ask who the pretty little girl was, but then I read your post. :p

A very smart looking young and younger Alan. :)

Yeah, I'm with Natalie - that red-eyed teddy bear staring at the camera, has hypnotized me.
What a cute wee lad you were! Look at those cheeks! And look at that miniature dog! I think the dog was ascairt of the teddy bear, too!
Second photo: where did the blonde hair go? Blonde, brown, silver... you are like a walking talking natural L'Oreal commercial.
You look amazingly like Tony DeFranco. http://popdose.com/lost-in-the-70s-the-defranco-family-feat-tony-defranco/

Awww, look at wee little Alan. What a treasure you were. And a winner too. Was theis the start of the long hair? Did it stay like this through the ages? I'm dying to see the next photos.

Dood... I'm with ya on the hair and clothes. Moms have this weird thing with that. My mom was always trying to get me to grow mine out... but boys will be boys and I kept it short.

That chair is awesome... I think I had a chair like that when I was little or maybe just a stuffed bear that looked like that. It was not soft, and the "fur" was scratchy on it.. it was a terrible teddy bear. I think it was passed down from like a grandparent or something... possibly hand made.
