Girl Fans and Blogging

I wouldn't normally give a shout out to a blogger twice in the same week, but this warrants an exception. As noted in my last post I follow Townie Bastard who blogs out of Iqaluit in the territory of Nunavut (established in 1999) in the Canadian north. He noted in today's blog that he has just gotten a new job, partially because of his good writing skills as demonstrated on his blog and on Twitter. I think it's really inspiring to see that folks are noticing that sort of thing and positive things can happen when you put yourself out there to be seen. Another instance, as it were, of the powers of the Internet being used for good instead of evil.

Moving on...It did not escape my attention that my last blog posting (you remember, the one where I'm sporting the cool, red hair-doo) had 11 comments, all from female readers. I can interpret this in two ways: that guys read this, but didn't think it manly to comment about another guy's hair or that women really liked my hair and they all felt compelled to comment. I just hope that my wife doesn't take it the wrong way if she notices so many women following my blog...and ladies, you'll not hear any complaining from me...

This is where I include the obligatory comment about writing. I finished a flash piece today that I may use Friday. I am waiting to see how the editing goes. Now I know that Anton Gully (aka the Flash B*stard) would argue that polish is for the fine, wooden floors. I'm a bit old-school and, to quote the late Orson Welles, will serve no tale before its time.

This is a different story than the one I noted last week. I haven't made any more progress on that one. This short story just popped into my head on Sunday while standing in the parking lot at Walmart (who hasn't wanted to set a story there!) It's about love, small dogs and really bad luck. I'll say no more...except that as a former dog catcher, it is my duty to talk about dogs once in a while.

Well, I missed your hair post and I'm female, so you're going to have to add another person to the talley since I'm mentioning it now. That hair scared me.

I live in constant fear that someone at my office will discover my blog. Not that I say anything much about work (usually), it's just the whole "stay out of my business" thing I have with my coworkers. My wonderful, wonderful, not-nosy-at-all coworkers.

We also like blogs about underwear. Go ahead and post one if you don't believe me.

Yeah Al, I love how your Followers widget looks like the thumbnails shot from a Russian brides website.

Not that I'd know what they look like. Ahem.

Hmm...Anton does have a point. Underwear would be a cool post, as Natalie indicated, but I really want you to show us you sporting the hair of Conan the Barbarian. That would rock!

Hmmmm...underwear posts could get dicey. I don't know that I could read them at school; Coversations from Land's Edge might just earn a "blocked" status. Maybe that's something to strive for...maybe.

I'm with KC right now. At this moment in time, I live a double life when it comes to blogging and twittering. Some of my neighbors started catching up with me on twitter so I took my real name off of my account.

That's how weird I am. Or dumb.

Jeremy - the real advantage of a pen name is that you can make it unique. There are a million Jeremy Kellys. It's a very popular name in both China AND India, I'm told. Told, by voices in my head.

There is only one Anton Gully.

Did I comment? I think I remember blinking several times. Blowing kisses to get you into more trouble with the missus. :D

KC- Consider yourself added to the harem. Sorry, I mean list of girl fans. I don't advertise the fact that I write to my co-worker or neighbours either. Only my immediate family knows. Not that it's a big state secret, or anything like that...

Nat- I should have seen that one coming.

Anton- That's the funniest thing I've heard all day!

Laura- I will look into the Conan thing. As for the underwear blogging...perhaps if I drop 30lbs or so...

Aaron- I can understand why the school would block that sort of thing. I don't think that I want to incur the wrath of the Kansas school board.

Jeremy-Hmm, a double life. I think that Anton may have something with the pen name business.

Cate- Have received said kisses, and am turning the other cheek...
