Just a quick post to link you to a sketch from the fine people at This Hour Has 22 Minutes, a CBC comedy show that has run in Canada for years. It's been very popular in this province as the shows creator, Mary Walsh, and most of the cast are from Newfoundland and Labrador.
The sketch from last night's show has a distressed 22 Minute regular Mark Critch confronting premier Danny Williams about his resignation from office effective this Friday. Mark has been impersonating the premier on the show for years and figures he will now be out of a job. The two men go to see 'The Codfather', as played by Gordon Pinsent, to resolve the situation. I'm thinking that you don't have to be Canadian to appreciate the humour (and accents) of the men in this skit. Watch for a small cameo by a couple of men from another popular CBC show near the end of the skit (I won't say who they are as it will spoil the surprise. Then again...probably only Canadians well get the joke...) Nobody can say that Danny Williams doesn't have a sense of humour.
As per usual, my total lack of technological knowledge leaves me baffled and I will take the easy way out and rather than trying to embed the sucker I will post a link to the YouTube video here.

OMG that was HILARIOUS! (Why wasn't I watching this last night???) I watched it, then replayed it and watched it again, laughing like a loon both rounds. That's the funniest thing I've seen in a long while. Thanks for pointing it out, Alan! One question, who are the two actors in the end?
That was so hilarious. The ending was all kinds of awesome. Whatever you ahve to say about Danny, his appearances on 22 Minutes are always entertaining.
It took me forever to figure out how to post things. I'm still shaky : P
Thanks to my own total lack of technological knowledge, I accidentally muted the sound on the video and couldn't get it to unmute. Stupid buttons. It certainly looks funny, though. I'll try it again and hopefully the sound will have reset.
Cathy- The two guys are Allan Hawco (Newfoundlander) and Sean McGinley (from Ireland) who play a father and son private detective team on CBC's Republic of Doyle (shot here in St. John's)That's an example of the scrapes they get into every week.
Laurita- Yeah, Danny...maybe he'll start a 4th career in stand-up comedy...
Nat- I'll have to get you to explain to me, one day, how to embed the videos on the blog.
KC- Yeah, try it again to get a listen to the local accents (ya'll must know a thing or two about accents in the South...)
Funny youtube, Alan. I live near the Canadian border here in NY, so recognize some of the players. I also wanted to thank you for the comment on my story some weeks ago. I've been away because of computer problems and the flu.
